I’m finally caught up with season 4. We just finished the final episode. It’s infuriating to watch something and have nothing answered. (At least not the important things). I think we need to have a “Lost” watching party to see all this season’s episodes again leading up to the new season in the fall. I’m totally lost as to what is actually going on. I think I liked it better when they were all contained on the island. They were easier to keep up with. Everyone catch up so we can discuss it.
I’m a Happy :) Camper!

Finally, finally he’s home. He came in this afternoon. There was a very last minute terminal/gate change which sent us all scrambling to the sky link to make it to the new terminal in time. There were twelve of his group that came home today and others will be arriving in the next few weeks. The USO was there to escort us through security and back to the gate. They brought flags and posters. There was applauding for the guys as that came down the ramp and into the terminal. As we exited the secured area to the baggage claim all three major TV stations were there filming and interviewing for the news. After retrieving his bags we headed out for a late lunch. We found a quite restaurant and settled in for a good time of stories and tales from across the world. After lunch we brought the tales home and continued with the catching up.
He’s gone back to Wes’ now to catch up on some much needed sleep. He has to report for duty bright and early in the morning before he can start his 30 days of well deserved time off.
Needless to say, I’m a happy camper. I love having all three of my guys at home at the same time. All I have to say is “Welcome back. You have been missed.”
So close but still so far!

At least he’s made it back to the states. He has made it all the way to Baltimore and will be staying the night there. Yea! But we still have to wait until tomorrow before he makes the rest of the trip home. I had a brief phone call this afternoon. He sounded tired but okay otherwise. He was ready to go out to eat somewhere tonight and turn in early. He sounded happy. Thank you Lord!!!
In the Middle

Today was the middle of our long weekend. After working until 8pm Friday evening I was certainly ready for this extra long weekend.
Yesterday I did get to sleep late and was so grateful. We had my nephew’s graduation late yesterday afternoon and then last night we all met at one of my “Bridge” student’s houses and watched Indiana Jones episodes 1 and 3 of the original movies. We had a lot of fun. Read the rest of this entry »
Countin’ Down the Days
May 21, 2008 at 10:24 pm (Uncategorized)
Do you ever feel like you are just counting down time? That seems like all my life consists of these days. You know, like counting the days until your birthday, or counting the days until Christmas. First off, I’m really counting down the days to the long weekend. I get three days, with the exception of having to go in to the shop one day and check on the plants. Friday night can’t get here fast enough for me. Secondly, I’m counting down the days, and it is literally days, until my “away” son comes home. I’ve been counting down that time clock for six months now. Can’t wait. I’m also counting the days until the big wedding. It’ll be here before you know it and I still have so much left to do (in fact, why am I sitting here blogging?). And then I’m still counting the days until Baby Brayden gets here. That’s going to be the most fun of all. I can’t wrap my mind around the fact that I’m going to be a grandmother. Can I really be that old? That boy and I are going to have all kinds of fun together. To anyone that feels like they are just “countin’ down the days” I have just one piece of advise. Don’t forget to live between the big events. There is life going on during the wait. Don’t miss out.
I’m Behind
May 19, 2008 at 11:42 pm (Uncategorized)
Have you ever felt like you just could not get caught up no matter how hard you tried? That’s me about right now. I feel behind in everything. I need a few more hours in my day to get everything accomplished. I stopped and bought groceries tonight on my way home from work…my least favorite thing to do. It so cuts into my evening. By the time I got home and ate a bowl of cereal it was almost 9 o’clock.
The “away” son called tonight. That was a real highlight to the evening. He’s homesick and I’m homesick for him. He is so ready to be home again but anxious at the same time. This should be the week, but we will see. I’m thinking at this point it’s not going to happen this week.
“The Bridge” has been absolutely awesome. We had a get-together last night, and wow, we had fun. My “young friends” are always an inspiration to me. I like to think they keep me young. Not really sure how that is working, especially when I look in the mirror, but I love trying to keep up with them. Why can’t I be behind in the “getting older” department? Age always marches on…. Well, now I’m behind on my sleep ’cause I’m setting here writing instead of headin’ off to bed. Night all.
No Time

Not much time to write. Sleep sounds so much more attractive. Had to work late. Brought some work home. Very tired of prom season. I’ll be glad when it’s over. Will probably work late the next two nights and I have to work Saturday. Will write more when I’m more alert. Hope everyone is doing well. Oh, by the way, Brad wrote that he got his orders for when he returns home. He will be back in Abilene as of July 1st. (At least it’s Texas).
Mother’s Day
May 11, 2008 at 10:32 pm (Uncategorized)
Simply said, “It was great.” My “away” son sent me a goodie box which was waiting outside my door when I got home from work yesterday. I had lunch today with my other sons, daughter-in-law, soon to be daughter-in-law, my mom and step-dad and a few other extended family members. Yes it was a very large table. I received gifts from the other two as well. I loved the cards and the personal messages inside from everyone. That’s always one of my favorite parts. My “away” son called twice today so that was a real treat too.
I always reflect at this time of year as to whether or not I was the best mom I could be. I’m sure I will always wish I had done more…hugged more, read to them more, disciplined more, advised more and the list goes on. But, I am grateful that they still come to me for advise, they still give me hugs and there are still times I will read something to them or pass along something that I have read that I think will be important to them. Even though I don’t have to discipline them any longer I’m sure with my first grandchild on the way there will soon be times when they will remember the scoldings they received as a child and I hope they help teach their own children from those experiences. I love being a mom. That is all I really ever wanted or aspired to be. Of course I’m so much more than that now but it is still one of my most favorite rolls in life. Here’s wishing all my fellow mom’s a Happy Mother’s Day.
Tuesday, My New Favorite Night
May 7, 2008 at 8:44 pm (Uncategorized)
I have to tell you how much fun I had just sitting around and visiting last night with my group. They are so much fun and have so many stories to tell. They kept me in stitches all evening. So many funny things to talk about. I can just tell that Tuesday nights are going to be the highlight of my week. I am already looking forward to next week…even if we don’t have homemade cookies (they were some kinda good by the way. Wish I had one now). Thanks Ant. I’m really trying to think of a good topic to discuss next week so if you have any suggestions leave a comment and let me know. I think my brain is clouded right now with Mother’s Day flowers. I’m not sure how much I’ll get to blog the rest of the week. I’m sure I’ll be working late the next couple of nights.
