I’m lovin’ the thought of being off tomorrow. The shop was closed Saturday and Monday so we’ve had a three day weekend. We’re having a cook out tomorrow and at least part of my family will be there and a few guests as well. We’ll be having hamburgers and hot dogs. I know some of my friends have to work tomorrow and for that I’m sorry. For those who are off I hope you have a great day free from you labors.
Brad’s first six years in the AF actually ran out while he was overseas this last time. He has been on an extension. Yesterday he swore in for another six years. Of course all the fam was on hand for the big event. You know our family, we are always there to support each other in full force. I’m including a pic so you guys can have a peek.
I swear.....
Needless to say, I am once again a proud mom. This has definitely been the year for it. Jeff gets married to Molly, Brad re-ups, and Wes and Tiff’s little one is almost here (can you imagine the fam on hand for that event). You better contain me, I’m about to explode. When you’re blessed by God you’re truly blessed.
Aaron posted me a note on Steve’s MySpace page so I thought I would share with everyone else. Continue to pray for our young ones that are away at school. Here’s his message:
“Hey, Belinda! Everything’s goin good so far.
School starts monday so i’m gettin prepared for that. And I will try to keep ya’ll updated on everything.
We were at “convocation” yesterday (like a big pep rally where the president of OU pumps us up for the year) and it was cool how God was speaking to me even through the message the pres. was giving! Never ceases to amaze.”
Someone from my church sent this to me in an email. I thought it spoke volumes. It reminds me of the song that says the saints are just the sinners who fall down and get back up. Thank you Jesus for new beginnings.
Having grown up with two very athletic sisters and of course having three sons myself I’ve experienced my share of competition. I remember when the boys were younger making my way from one baseball field to another or one soccer field to another just to be able to catch part of each of their games if they happened to be all playing at the same time. As hectic as it was I loved that part of my life.
Even though I myself am not a very competitive person at heart I still enjoy watching sports. We are certainly enjoying the summer Olympics thus far. Today has been gymnastics and swimming events, two of our favorites. The US four man relay swimming team just broke all kinds of records but the French team, who was favored to win, had talked some trash earlier in the day against USA so it was justice served as far as I’m concerned.
I’m especially fond of watching the awards ceremonies when the USA is being presented. Hearing the National Anthem played and watching the pride on their faces is always a tear jerker and goose bumps moment for me. Keep up the great work USA.
As the Texas heat marches on and each day at work seems like a blur of the same ole, same ole I’m beginning to miss my beloved television shows. At the end of the last season I was glad, if not happy about the break from them, not feeling tied down and being able to come and go without worrying about did I record this or that, but now I think it’s been long enough. I’m ready for them to return. Evenings are becomming a bore. I miss Heros and Prison Break. I long for 24’s return since we completely missed out on it last season. And I can’t wait for Lost to start back up. But since some of these won’t even start until next year I’ll take what I can and count the days till September arrives.
We are bird sitting this week for my sister and her family. They left on their vacation today. It’s a parakeet, green and kind of yappy. The funny part is that Dirk, Brad’s dog, has found the bird. He is oh so interested. I have to watch him like a hawk because he sneaks off and tries to visit the bird. So far all he has done is sniff the cage, but I’m fearful that he will be tempted as the week goes on if I’m not careful. There are times he doesn’t think about it at all, but then the bird will chirp really loud and that catches Dirk’s attention and off he goes in search of the bird again. All I can think about is an animated version of Dirk hiccuping and seeing feathers fly out of his mouth. How would I explain that to my sister? Hang in there Falco.
